CCARHAF
The Calaveras County Association of Realtors(R), (CCAR) is pleased to announce that we have formed a local committee called the Housing Affordability Fund (HAF). The purpose of HAF is to help our local citizens achieve the American Dream of homeownership.
Many of you know that this new program was introduced at the C.C.A.R. Installation Dinner in Nov. 2003, and that over $19,000. was raised by a fundraising campaign solicited both before and during the dinner. While we can all be proud of the generous donations made, there will be an ongoing need to replenish the fund once the program is rolled out. To this end, each Realtor(R) in the local Association will have an opportunity to contribute in an easy and relatively pain-free manner. One method which we are encouraging is when an escrow is opened at any of the local Title Companies, the agent representing
each side of the transaction will be asked if they wish to make a $25.00 donation to the Housing Affordability Fund from their portion of the commission. While this will be a voluntary donation, it is the committee's hope that most, if not all of us will see the big picture and greater good to be accomplished by many relatively small contributions. All administrative costs of the program will be fully absorbed by the Association, so all funds and services donated will go entirely to reduce selected homebuyer's purchase costs.
As there are currently many other programs that provide assistance for low to moderate income families, our program differs in that it will focus on the local work force community who cannot qualify for the low income programs, but who would otherwise qualify for conventional homeowner loans with limited assistance. These are local workers such as firemen, teachers, police officers, office workers, and other workers who live in the community who need limited assistance in helping them to qualify for a home loan. This assistance could be, but not limited to, buying down the interest rate to make payments more affordable, down payment assistance, etc.
If you are a Realtor and have someone whom you feel may qualify for this program please call the Association Office or any of the Committee members for an application. Completed applications should be faxed to 209-736-0017, mailed to the Assn. Office at 1270 Suzanne Drive, P.O. Box 313, Angels Camp, CA
